Are you paying too much? You could be entitled to an exemption that will help to reduce the amount of your annual tax bill. If you live in the property as your primary residence you can apply for a homestead exemption. If a property is used as a primary residence and the owner is 65+ years old you may also qualify for a senior exemption. In addition, seniors that meet certain income requirements may also qualify for a senior assessment freeze or a property tax deferral. Information about these exemptions and other tax saving programs can be found on your County Treasurer’s website.
